Mother Elisabeth Hesselblad's life

Mother Elisabeth was born on June 4, 1870 into a Lutheran family.
She was an open and significant witness to the gospel and the ecumenical idea.
She came from Sweden with her Lutheran faith, but she applied to the Catholic Church.
It was a slow process. She learned the Catholic catechism and the tradition of the church, until she became ready to become a member of the Catholic Church.
Thus her faith became mature and strong.
After a few years, she managed to found and give new life to the Order of Bridgettines, which we have today in Mother's house on Piazza Farnese in Rome.
It is the house of Saint Bridget.
Mother Elisabeth carried with all her heart the spirituality of Saint Bridget.
These are the words Jesus spoke: "Let them all be one."
The Bridgettine sisters have guesthouses that meet people from different faiths and countries.
We welcome everyone with respect and love.

We pray together:

Already as a child you prayed to God
The Gift of the Light of Love, the Holy Ghost,
which should guide you in looking for
the perfect revelation of trinity love,
who has transformed you, day after day,
to pilgrim for the unity of the church.
Teach us to understand, by daily practice,
how love and the humble service of mankind
is the first instrument to build
the unity of the Christian community and a peaceful humanity.

By your prayer, let us from the Lord be able to be like you,
pilgrims for the unity of the Church and eloquent signs of the Father's mercy
for all people, starting with the smallest and the most needy.

Saint Mary Elisabeth of Sweden, our beloved teacher, pray for us to the Holy Trinity.
